Removing Previous Versions of the
McIntire VPN

Click the Windows Start button, click
Settings, click the Network and Dial-up Connections icon

A Network Connections Window Appears

If a McIntire VPN connection appears, Right click it and
select Delete
-
Close the network and Dial-up connections windows

Installing the McIntire VPN
Connection

Click the Windows Start button, click
Settings, click the Network and Dial-up Connections icon

A Network Connections Window Appears

Click the Make New connection
button
-
Click Next
-
Choose the second radio button, Connect
to a private network through the internet and click Next

Enter 128.143.40.3 into the Host name
or IP address box and click Next

Select to make the connection available for
all users

-
Do not check the box to enable Internet
Connection Sharing (Not pictured)
-
Name the Connection McIntire VPN, Check the box to add a shortcut to the
desktop if you choose and click Finish

A connection box will appear. Enter
MCINITRE\USERID (Where USERID is your logon ID) into the
User Name Field.

Enter your domain logon password into the
password box
-
Check the box to save the username and
password if you choose

Click Connect to connect to the
McIntire VPN
-
After a VPN Connection has been established,
you can use McIntire resources as if you were in Monroe Hall,
such as outlook, sharepoint intranet, and your F and G
drives.

Troubleshooting VPN Connections

Connection. The VPN server may be unreachable, or
security parameters may not be configured properly for this

| Error 649: The Account does not
have permission to dial in |
You must be a McIntire Faculty,
Staff, or Graduate Student to Access the McIntire VPN Server |

Check your userID and password carefully.
