John N. Deal

With almost 20 years of investment banking experience, John Deal has spent his career advising early- and later-stage companies on how to achieve their financial and strategic objectives. Mr. Deal joined Bankers Trust Company in 1986, focusing on companies in the media and information services industries. In this capacity, John assisted on over $10 billion in strategic combinations—mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and recapitalizations. In 1994, Mr. Deal joined Lehman Brothers and was integrally involved with over $5 billion of public and private financings and advisory transactions. After this, Mr. Deal was affiliated as a Managing Director with both JPMorgan & Company and SG Cowen. Most recently, Mr. Deal served as a Managing Director of RBC Capital Markets and head of the firm’s communications practice, where he was an active adviser to clients on M&A matters as well as capital raising.

Mr. Deal holds a bachelor’s degree from the McIntire School and an M.B.A. from the Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr. Deal recently relocated to Charlottesville, Va.
