McIntire School Advisory Board
Jeffrey S. Edell Jeffrey Edell is Chairman of the
Board of eUniverse Inc. (EUNI), one of the largest entertainment content
providers and media networks on the Internet. Before joining eUniverse,
Mr. Edell served as President/CEO and Director of Soundelux
Entertainment Group Inc., a leading provider of entertainment content
and technologies, where he oversaw growth in the company's revenues from
$15 million to $110 million over a 4-year period. Soundelux was also
recognized with five Academy Awards and more than 50 Emmys. While at
Soundelux, Mr. Edell initiated, negotiated, and closed the sale of the
company's post-production group to John Malone's Liberty Media Group,
resulting in the creation of Liberty Livewire.
In addition, Mr. Edell served as Founder, Chairman/CEO of eLabor Inc.,
which was sold to ADP in February 2003. Previously, Mr. Edell sat on the
board of publicly traded IVC Industries Inc., helping to navigate the
sale of that company to Inverness Medical. Mr. Edell obtained his CPA
while at KPMG and was later a Partner in CBIZ, a large national CPA and
consulting firm, where he focused on the entertainment industry and
business management arena.
In 2000, Mr. Edell was named "Entertainment Entrepreneur of the Year" by
NASDAQ and Ernst & Young and is presently a member of the Academy of
Television Arts & Sciences, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and
Sciences, and the Young Presidents' Organization. He is also the
producer of two films, "True Rights" and "Dead Men Can't Dance." Mr.
Edell graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce in 1979. He has
been on the School's Advisory Board since 2002 and participated in the
recent U.Va. 2020 strategic planning session.
He is married, has three children, and resides in Westlake Village,
Calif.
