Angus Robertson Angus Robertson is an independent
business advisor specializing in strategy, organizational development,
and communications. He works primarily with early stage businesses and
not-for-profit enterprises.
Mr. Robertson has held a wide variety of positions ranging from
reporting and editing roles to executive management responsibilities
involving all aspects of the financial information industry.
In almost 20 years with Knight Ridder Inc., one of the largest and
respected newspaper companies, he managed the transformation of a
specialized agricultural newswire into a global financial news service
used by most of the world's top financial institutions. In 1996 he was
closely involved in the sale of Knight-Ridder’s financial information
business to Bridge Information Systems, which he joined as Executive
Vice President. At Bridge, he applied Bridge's leading-edge technology
to seamlessly integrate news content with related data, graphics, and
video and oversaw a news organization of more than 500 staff in 100
locations around the world. He was actively involved in the sale of
Bridge in 2001.
He began his career at Knight-Ridder as a Reporter and Editor in London.
He moved to Washington, D.C., in 1981 and later became Bureau Chief and
Executive Editor.
Mr. Robertson grew up in England, where he studied economics, English,
and French. He is a graduate of Knight-Ridder’s Executive Leadership
program, which included sessions at Harvard Business School, Stanford
University, and NASA. In 2000 Mr. Robertson was recognized as one of The
Top 100 Business Journalists in America.
His interests include piano, skiing, theater, and music.
Mr. Robertson lives in Arlington, Va., with his wife, Nancy, a producer
for The Diane Rehm Show on WAMU-FM public radio. Their son Josh is a
third-year student in the College of Arts & Sciences at University of
Virginia. Their daughter, Anna, graduated from the College in 2000 and
is now a Producer for ABC News in New York City.
