McIntire Young Alumni Council: Committees

MYAC has five committees, each with a distinct focus, yet collectively working toward the common goal of serving and representing McIntire’s recent graduates.

Communications

The Communications committee works closely with McIntire's External Affairs department on marketing and public relations issues. Committee members encourage young alumni to share their news with McIntire and seek opportunities for greater young alum visibility. Communications serves as the voice of MYAC to the faculty, staff, alumni, and general U.Va. community.

Mentoring

The Mentoring committee works with Career Services and Student Services to identify mentoring opportunities for current students. Initiatives have included a question-and-answer session for a group of pre-Commerce students and a student/alumni women's mentoring lunch. This committee works with the Assistant Dean for Commerce Career Services to identify MYAC members to serve as panelists for Commerce Career Day and perform informational interviews with students as needed. 

Fundraising

The Fundraising committee supports McIntire's young alumni fundraising efforts and encourages classmates to participate in the McIntire Annual Fund. Committee members seek new and creative ideas to help boost class participation levels. The Fundraising committee will work closely with McIntire's Alumni Development team over the next few years to develop and grow the McIntire Alumni Trustee program. 

Social

The Social committee organizes young alumni events across the country. Social works with U.Va. club directors in various cities to organize events such as bar nights and tailgates. Committee members help promote attendance of recent graduates at McIntire alumni receptions. In 2006, the Social committee hopes to plan programs to provide lifelong learning opportunities for young alums.

Strategy

The Strategy committee works closely with the other committees to set and reach attainable goals. Strategy collaborates with each committee to devise strategies for membership, fundraising, and communication efforts. This committee works with the University's Young Alumni Council to ensure that McIntire's young alumni needs are being met. They help promote Young Alumni Council initiatives, such as MY-D-CAV, to McIntire young alumni.
