Visiting the McIntire School of Commerce

Rouss and Robertson Halls

The McIntire School of Commerce is located in Rouss & Robertson Halls, at the southeast corner of the University of Virginia's historic Lawn.

Driving Directions

Directions to the McIntire School of Commerce and the Central Grounds Parking Garage

Directions from the Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport 

Proceed on Route 29 south to Charlottesville. When Route 29 merges with the US 250 Bypass, keep straight on Business US 29 (Emmet Street). Stay on Emmet Street for 1.7 miles, going through 5 stoplights and under a railroad bridge. Proceed to the next stoplight, which will be the intersection of University Avenue and Emmet Street (The Cavalier Inn will be on your right, and a gas station will be on your left). Stay on Emmet Street through this intersection. You will pass tennis courts adjacent to Memorial Gym on the left, and the Central Grounds Parking Garage is located beyond the gym on the left.

Exit the parking garage on Level 4 (Note: This is approximately a 10-minute walk). Upon exiting, you will see Newcomb Hall in front of you and the University Bookstore on the left. Walk toward Newcomb Hall, staying to the right of the building. You will see a set of brick stairs; follow them to the top. The building in front of you now is Monroe Hall (former building of the McIntire School of Commerce). Proceed to the right side of the building (past the Whispering Wall Fountain), and cross the street (McCormick Road) near the bus stop gates. Proceed down the hill toward the amphitheatre, and bear left. Continue to cross the Lawn (Garrett Hall is on your left). As you are crossing the Lawn, you will see Rouss Hall directly in front of you. Enter Rouss Hall, and see Commerce Career Services to your left, past Classroom 410 (look for the red carpet).

Directions from Lynchburg, Va. (from the south)

Take US 29 North into Charlottesville, and turn right onto the 250 West Business Bypass (Boar’s Head Inn exit). Turn right onto Ivy Road. Follow Ivy Road to the intersection of Emmet Street (a Chevron gas station is straight ahead, on the left). Turn right onto Emmet Street. The Central Grounds Parking Garage is on the left, just past Memorial Gym (approximately 4 blocks).

Exit the parking garage on Level 4 (Note: This is approximately a 10-minute walk). Upon exiting, you will see Newcomb Hall in front of you and the University Bookstore on the left. Walk toward Newcomb Hall, staying to the right of the building. You will see a set of brick stairs; follow them to the top. Directions from Interstate 64 (from the east or west)

From Interstate 64, take the US-29 North/Monacan Trail Road via Exit 118B toward Charlottesville/Culpeper. Heading north on Route 29, take the first exit into Charlottesville (US-29 Business). Take a right onto US-29 Business/Fontaine Avenue. Go through the second stoplight (Jefferson Park Avenue). At the third stoplight, take a left onto Emmett Street. The Central Grounds Parking Garage is on your right, and it is the first right.

Personalized Brick Locations

Commemorative bricks are located at two sidewalk entrances to the McIntire School of Commerce: the entrance on the second floor closest to Randall Hall and the entrance on the third floor closest to Wilson Hall. If you plan to visit the McIntire School and would like to see your brick, Sarah Ritzer, Assistant Director Donor Relations, will gladly assist you.
