Chip Jordan
Class of '84, MS '85

Chip Jordan is the Senior Vice President and Head of Global Tax for Marriott International in Washington, D.C. He is responsible for the company’s global tax research and planning, all corporate income tax compliance and tax accounting matters, and tax audit risk management. Marriott International Inc. is a lodging company with more than 3,000 lodging properties in the United States and 71 other countries and territories.
Before joining Marriot, Mr. Jordan was Vice President, Tax for Fannie Mae, where he was responsible for all federal income tax compliance and tax planning for business transactions. He also managed the company’s IRS examinations, Sarbanes Oxley compliance, and all tax issues arising from Fannie Mae’s accounting restatement.
Before joining Fannie Mae, Mr. Jordan was Vice President, Corporate Tax for Nextel Communications Inc., where he served as the top tax executive and strategic partner to finance, executive management, and regional business units. Mr. Jordan began his career at KPMG (Formerly Peat Marwick), where he spent six years in the Washington, D.C., local tax practice, followed by a 10-year period at Freddie Mac, where he was a Director in the corporate tax department.
A registered CPA, Mr. Jordan graduated from the University of Virginia with an M.S. in Accounting (tax concentration) and a B.S. in Commerce (accounting concentration). He is a past president of the D.C. Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants. He is a member of the Tax Executives Institute, and has been a featured speaker at The Georgetown University Law Center Advance State & Local Tax Institute. Mr. Jordan resides in Great Falls, Va., with his wife and two children.
