Robert S. Understein
Class of '63

Robert (Bob) Understein is the Managing Associate (Nevada) for Capital Mortgage Services, specializing in high-end residential and commercial mortgage financings. He specializes in working with his clients helping them assess their financing needs and then providing the client with a proper solution.
Upon graduating from McIntire in 1963, he helped establish and manage a financial and tax-planning firm in the metro Washington, D.C., area, working with high-income, high-net-worth, high-profile individuals and companies. As a part of the company services, he was responsible for raising investor equity for joint ventures in real estate and communication investments. After almost 25 years in this business, he became a commercial mortgage banker in Washington, D.C., and then spent four years working in Romania representing major companies to establish business in the country as well as effecting international trade to and from Romania into the United States.
In addition to his service on the McIntire Advisory Board, he sits on the Board of Governors of the Fund for American Studies and International Board of Advisors for the American Council of Young Political Leaders. Mr. Understein has served on the University's Alumni Board of Managers and was the National Chairman of the Jefferson Scholarship Committee.
Education (and the University) is very important to him, and Mr. Understein welcomes e-mail correspondence from students, alumni, and faculty. He also welcomes a meeting by any of you who plan to be in Las Vegas.
