Roger L. Calvert

After receiving an M.B.A. from The College of William & Mary (1974), Roger Calvert worked for 34 years in the investment banking/securities business (from 2001 to 2008 as President/CEO of Ferris, Baker Watts Inc. [“FBW”] until it was acquired in 2008 by The Royal Bank of Canada). Headquartered in Baltimore, FBW was a full-service, regional investment firm with more than 40 offices throughout the mid-Atlantic and Midwest. He currently provides independent financial consulting services with emphasis on “planned giving” guidance to organizations such as United Way of Central Maryland.

Mr. Calvert began his career at FBW in 1974 in the Public Finance Department, serving as a Financial Adviser to municipalities. His academic interests include real estate, municipal finance, and estate planning. In addition to serving on the Advisory Board since 2001, he has served on the boards of the Walters Art Museum (Baltimore), the National Capital Area American Heart Association, the Mid-Atlantic American Heart Association, and the United Way of Central Maryland, and participated as a regional representative for the Virginia Athletic Foundation.

While an undergraduate, he was a member of the track team, president of The Tuesday Evening Concert Series, and Lawn resident. Mr. Calvert and his wife, Barbara, have two sons (Randall and Evan) and reside in Ellicott City, Md.
