Setting up Outlook 2007 for Use with McIntire E-Mail

Connecting to the VPN

To use Outlook 2007 to connect to Exchange via MAPI, you must be physically connected to the network in the McIntire School or using the McIntire VPN.

Instructions on Using the McIntire VPN can be found here.

Setting up Your Outlook 2007 Profile

The first time you launch Outlook 2007 after installation, you will see a welcome screen.

If you have already configured accounts in Outlook 2007, you may add additional accounts by selecting Tools and then Email Accounts. From there, choose Add a new Email Account, as shown in the example below:

On the Account Configuration screen, select the Yes radio button, and then click Next. On the auto configuration page, check the Manually Configure checkbox, and choose Next.

On the next screen, choose Microsoft Exchange as the e-mail service type, and then click Next.

On the next screen, enter mcintire8.comm.virginia.edu as the Exchange Server. Enter your McIntire User ID (e.g. ABC8D) as the User Name and click Next.

If prompted for credentials, enter your domain (MCINTIRE), followed by a backslash and then your McIntire User ID so that it appears as follows:  MCINTIRE\UserID. You may then enter your McIntire logon password.

Congratulations! You are now set to use Outlook 2007 with your McIntire e-mail account. Remember, you must first connect to the McIntire VPN before using Outlook 2007 to check your mail.
