 Global Immersion Experience

Do You Have a Global Mindset?

11 CREDITS

By studying within an international context, students develop a better understanding of the economic, social, and cultural dynamics affecting global organizations. Each of the four immersion experiences offers students additional depth within their functional area of concentration while providing an opportunity to create a tailored experience through a global capstone project.

The Global Immersion Experience (GIE) includes a spring-term seminar course, a one-week intensive residency mid-May, a month of overseas study, and travel through the end of June. Four GIE destinations* to Europe and Asia have been specially designed to provide a regional perspective of today's ever-changing global business environment:

Europe I: Stockholm - Berlin - Warsaw - Istanbul - London
Europe II: Barcelona - Southern France - Budapest - Vienna - Munich
China: Beijing - Shanghai - Chengdu/Chongqing - Guangzhou - Hong Kong
Southeast Asia: Singapore - Jakarta - Bangkok - Ho Chi Minh City

Partner Institutions

The McIntire School has partnered with some of the most respected universities and organizations within the leading global business centers of Europe and Asia. Host institutions for the 2011-2012 academic year are Escuela Superior de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (ESADE) Business School (Barcelona, Spain), Stockholm University's School of Business (Stockholm, Sweden), Peking University's Guanghua School of Management (Beijing, China), and the National University of Singapore's Business School.

McIntire faculty lead students on each GIE destination, providing "on-the-road" teaching and overseeing the global capstone project. During the fall term, students are matched with their first- or second-choice destination after submitting their preferences.
