Qualifications to Apply

The M.S. in Commerce Program is specifically designed for candidates who have graduated or who will be graduating within 12 months of matriculation with a strong liberal arts, science, or engineering undergraduate degree. Students who have an undergraduate major in business or equivalent coursework are not eligible to apply.

Prerequisite Coursework

Applicants must complete or plan to complete the following prerequisite UVA coursework or equivalents from other institutions before formal admission to the Program. Prerequisites must be taken for a grade and in class.

        •  Introduction to Financial Accounting (COMM 2010)
        •  Principles of Microeconomics (ECON 2010)
        •  Introduction to Statistics*

*UVA statistics courses that qualify to serve as a prerequisite are STAT 1100, STAT 1120, STAT 2120, SOC 3120, SOC 3130, ECON 3710, MATH 3120, PSYC 3006, APMA 3110, and APMA 3120.
