 Program Format

Program Format

The Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology Program is conducted in an executive format that allows working professionals to remain fully employed while obtaining their degree in one year.

The 30-credit-hour curriculum is offered in two distinct formats, providing convenient access to students from a range of industries and geographic regions. Both sections are taught by the same exceptional full-time faculty and explore the same curriculum, but at a different pace and location. You are encouraged to select the format best suited to your work, family, and personal needs.

Each section begins in early August with an orientation and overview, followed by three consecutive joint weekend sessions in Charlottesville in late August and early September. Students will complete the entire program by the following July.

Charlottesville Section

Charlottesville, Va. The Charlottesville section brings students to the historic Grounds of the University of Virginia one weekend each month–over a Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

Rouss and Robertson Halls

Charlottesville, in the scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is conveniently located just two hours south of Washington, D.C.

Between class meetings, students work with other class members and faculty through collaborative technologies, including Blackboard, a nationally recognized e-learning company, and Microsoft SharePoint.

Event Spotlight

M.S. in MIT alumni, students, faculty and staff enjoyed an August evening at the new Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. Despite watching the home team lose 9-3 to the visiting New York Mets, the McIntire contingent remained all smiles.

Alumni Spotlight

"I spent years searching the Northeast for a program tailored to my career path. I even tried an M.B.A. program. I finally found the perfect match with UVA’s M.S. in MIT Program. The format and location meant that I could commute to the program from New York while still maintaining my busy work schedule."
