Weekend Leadership Conference
at the McIntire School of Commerce
Feb. 10-12, 2012

The field of accounting offers a broad array of professional opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds. The steps you take now as a current or prospective accounting major will impact the career paths available to you upon graduation. LEAP (Leadership Excellence in the Accounting Profession) @ McIntire is a new annual leadership conference hosted by the McIntire School of Commerce that is designed to give sophomores and juniors from underrepresented minority groups insight into preparing for professional practice.

Leadership conference participants will:

• Learn to build their personal brand, create a winning resume, and hone interviewing skills with the help of the Commerce Career Services staff and recruiting professionals.
• Attend interactive small-group workshops on business communication, leadership skills, networking, and business etiquette led by McIntire faculty and representatives from the major public accounting firms.
• Meet with McIntire students and alumni who will share their graduate school experience and discuss the value of obtaining a CPA.
