Q: What are the prerequisites for the program?
A:
An undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of post-bachelor's degree relevant professional work experience, at least some of which included IT from either the technical or managerial perspective.

Q: Does my undergraduate degree need to be in MIS or computer science?
A:
No. Students entering the program represent a broad spectrum of undergraduate disciplines. They have in common IT-related work experiences.

Q: How many students are in each graduating class?
A: Section size varies, but there are generally 35-50 students in each class. 

Q: Can I enroll in the program on a part-time basis?
A: No, the program is offered only in a lock-step, executive format.

Q: Can I start the program in the fall semester? Spring semester?
A: The program begins just once each year in May.

Q: Do you accept GRE or GMAT scores?
A:
The Admissions Office requires official GMAT scores.

Q: How do I apply for a GMAT waiver?
A: 
Students interested in obtaining a GMAT waiver must have 8+ years of post-bachelor's degree professional work experience coupled with a strong academic background. Please submit transcripts and a resume to the Graduate Office and send an email to mcintiregrad@virginia.edu formally requesting a waiver of the GMAT requirement.

Q: What is the deadline for admission?
A:
The final admissions deadline is March 15. We strongly suggest you submit your completed application by March 15 to increase your chance of being admitted. The deadline for international applicants is Dec. 15.

Q: Are interviews required for admission?
A:
Interviews are required before a final admissions decision can be communicated. Interview days are scheduled throughout the fall and winter in the metro D.C. area and in the Richmond and Tidewater regions of Virginia. Interview may also be scheduled during class visit days in Charlottesville or Reston. If you are unable to attend any of these events, you may request to schedule an individual interview by contacting mcintiregrad@virginia.edu. We strongly encourage you to submit your complete application--or at least have your transcripts, test scores/waiver, and resume on file--before scheduling an admissions interview.

Q: How many VITS scholars will you select?
A:
These positions vary from year to year. They are filled based on strong academic performance, completed prerequisite courses, GMAT scores, and in some cases, an interview.

Q: What is the schedule of payments for the program tuition and fees?
A:
Tuition payments are due in three installments throughout the year (summer, fall, and spring) for the 12-month option. Tuition payments are due in four installments (summer, fall, spring, summer) for the 16-month option. You will receive a bill at the beginning of each semester.

Q: Does the University handle all hotel and meal accommodations?
A:
Lodging is provided during the week-long residency periods. For individual class nights, students are responsible for hotel accommodations. Group meals on class days are catered.
