Module II: IT Project Management

Module leader’s
course description:
IT project management is designed to develop more effective project
managers through its coverage of concepts, techniques, and technologies
relevant to the manager of an IT project. To this end, the module is
closely tied to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK, as
espoused by the Project Management Institute) and consists of seminars
on such topics as planning, estimation and scheduling, measuring project
value, and leading change; workshops on communication and negotiation;
and tutorials on project management tools and methodologies. In
addition, student teams conduct a project retrospective over the course
of the module for class presentation.

IT project retrospective:

Analysis and critique of a completed (or soon to
be completed) IT project.

Objective: Apply module concepts/ideas/techniques while
critiquing the project management process and outcome, as well as to
make recommendations for improvement.

Deliverables: report and presentation to module faculty.

Teams: Formed based on geography and access to project
case study.
Case-based exam: take-home exam based on an IT
project management case scenario.
