Denmark’s International
Study Program Program Overview The McIntire School of Commerce and Denmark’s International Study Program (DIS) are offering third-year Commerce students an opportunity to study International Business in Copenhagen, Denmark, during the spring semester 2008. The DIS program with its rigorous, practical business curriculum is highly respected around the world as a leader in study-abroad programs since 1959. Curriculum The curriculum is designed to provide the essentials of the courses taken at McIntire during the spring semester, so you will not fall behind your classmates who do not study abroad. The skills you develop and the experiences you have in this program will surely be a very valuable part of your total UVa educational experience. DIS course offerings are extensive and all Commerce students will find a good selection of courses that interest them. Finance and Marketing concentrators will be offered a special section of the required Comm 372 and/or Comm 353 in the fall of their fourth year. During the term abroad, students must complete 4-5 DIS course offerings for 12-15 UVa semester hours. All third-year students must complete 3 required courses:
(1) McIntire/Copenhagen seminar (Comm 304) NOTE: UVa accepts transfer credit (not grades) for courses taken abroad; however, a course must receive a C or better to transfer credit back to UVa. Application Process Online applications are available on the ISO Web site and are due Sept. 24, 2007. If space is available, additional applications will be approved on a rolling basis until Oct. 15, 2007. Once admission is approved, students will be required to complete a DIS online application and attend several orientation sessions during the months of November and December. Housing Students have a choice to live with a Danish host family, in a Kolleqium (dorm), in a privately arranged apartment with roommates, or in a shared apartment with Danish roommates.
