Getting Involved - Take a Closer Look
Even though students do not apply to the McIntire School until their second year, prospective students are encouraged to learn as much as possible about the School and the application process before they apply. There are many ways to get involved and learn more about McIntire, including following us on the Pre-Comm Blog, planning a visit, exploring opportunities for involvement in student organizations, and finding out what Commerce classes are really like by sitting in on a class.
Network with McIntire
There are now more ways than ever to get information on the application process, admission requirements, events of interest, or anything about McIntire that prospective students and others might find noteworthy:
Take a Seat (Class Visit Programs)
Sit in on a third-year ICE (Integrated Core Experience) class or a course from one of our five areas of concentration (accounting, finance, information technology, management, and marketing) and experience McIntire's exciting curriculum. You'll see firsthand how our program addresses real business problems and provides students the communication and behavioral skills necessary for success in any organization. Student Organizations
Pre-Commerce students can join a number of McIntire-affiliated student organizations. This is an excellent way to learn about the School, commerce, and a variety of business opportunities and industries.
Student-Led Tours of McIntire
The McIntire School of Commerce offers guided tours to prospective students and their families. We invite current UVA students, as well as prospective transfer and high school students, interested in business to join the tours and learn more about our curriculum and life at the Commerce School. Tours are offered when classes are in session (fall/spring) and are available Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 1 p.m. Please note that tours are not available during the summer, school breaks, or home football games. Tours for spring 2012 begin Friday, Jan. 20. No tours will be offered on the following dates: March 3, 5, 9, and 10 and April 6 and 7. The last tour for the spring 2012 semester will take place Friday, May 4. The McIntire School is located in Rouss & Robertson Halls on the East Lawn. Visitors should enter Rouss Hall from the Lawn level (fourth floor) and meet inside the lobby on the fourth floor. Saturday tours meet on the steps of Rouss Hall, not inside the building. The tours should last no more than 30 minutes. Registration is not required. For more information, please call 434-924-3485.
