Mock Interviews (Employer-in-Residence Program)

The Employer-in-Residence Program brings employers on Grounds throughout each semester to offer McIntire students experience with the interviewing process through mock interviews. Just a few past employer participants include Merrill Lynch, The Wolf Group, Genworth Financial, KPMG, Capital One, comScore Networks, and MarketBridge.

Targeted Workshops & Panels

Students can build their career planning skills throughout the year by attending workshops and panels that concentrate on specific products, skills, or strategies:

  • Resume writing

  • Interviewing skills

  • Job-search strategies, including strategies for summer job search

  • Job-offer evaluation and negotiation

Commerce Career Day 2008
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, 2008, company booths will be set up in the John Paul Jones Arena to promote internship and full-time opportunities with U.Va. students.

Panel Discussions
In addition to the career fair, panel discussions (2007 panel discussion schedule) will be held Thursday evening, Sept. 11, 2008, in Rouss & Robertson Halls, allowing employers and students to converse on multiple industry- and career-related topics that include the following:

  • Advertising, consulting

  • Corporate finance and accounting

  • Information technology

  • Investment banking

  • Marketing

  • Public accounting

  • Careers off the beaten path

Recruiters: Contact Sarah Isham if you would like to be invited to participate in this year's panel discussion.

Network One-on-One with an Employer at CCD
Many McIntire and U.Va. students took advantage of the unique networking opportunity gained as a Student Host for Commerce Career Day 2007! Your assistance ensures the success of CCD.

Business Careers Internship Fair
The Business Careers Internship Fair will be held November Friday, Nov. 21, 2008, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Rouss & Robertson Halls. (Details and updates to follow)

For many students last year, this was an opportunity to explore internship opportunities before winter break and, for some, before studying abroad next semester.
