Employment Search Sites & Career Fairs

International students are encouraged to network and explore opportunities both in and outside their country of origin. It is very important to become thoroughly familiar with the immigration regulations and employment options attributed to your immigration status and know that employment regulations vary from country to country.

Career Fairs 

European Career Fair (ECF) - The ECF is a three-day recruiting event that brings together European employers with undergraduate and graduate candidates from all disciplines, including management, economics, and computer science. Participating employers from public, private, national, and international companies use the first day to present their organizations at a fair booth and two subsequent days for onsite interviews. This event is sponsored by the MIT European Club in Cambridge, Mass.

Boston Career Fair Forum (Japanese-English Bilingual Fair) - The world’s largest career fair for Japanese-English bilinguals held in November of each year. Early registration and resume submission allow for the arrangement of onsite interviews. 

Search Sites 

CGAP Microfinance Gateway - A service of CGAP, the Microfinance Gateway is the most comprehensive online resource for the global microfinance community and includes job postings both in and outside of the United States.  

CNF – CareerForumNet - A career and job search site for Japanese/English bilinguals.

Devex - The largest online provider of recruiting services to the development aid community offering international development job listings and advice for a career in global development.  

DEVNETJOBS - Many free job listings in international development organizations, NGOs, nonprofits, United Nations, charities, and government. Subscription required for “premium” job postings.    

eFinancialCareers - Finance-related jobs in Hong Kong. 

EuroJobs.com -  Multi-country job search engine for opportunities throughout Europe.

The Federation of International Trade Association (FITA) Global Trade Portal - A source for international import/export trade and links to 8,000 international trade-related Web sites. Has a career section with job postings. 

Faayda.com - Job search engine for opportunities in India.

Foreign Policy Association - Job board that lists various internship, job, volunteer opportunities worldwide.    

 globalEDGE - Web portal designed by the International Business Center at Michigan State University. Connects international business professionals worldwide to a wealth of information, insights, and learning resources on global business activities.

GoAbroad.com - Listing of international internships provided by third-party placement organizations; fees usually apply.

Going Global

  • International jobs database with extensive country specific information such as economic conditions, leading industries, cultural norms, general employment practices. Also includes H1B employer section to research employers who have petitioned for H1B visas in the past 12 months.
  •  Access to Going Global is available when you log in to the protected online resources section on the Commerce Career Services Web site. To access, enter user id:  MCINTIRE/”your userid” and password. 

iAgora.com -  Listing of internships, jobs, study, and housing opportunities throughout Europe. Several job listings are free, although some require a paid membership to view.

Idealist.org - Idealist is a project of Action Without Borders, a nonprofit organization founded in 1995 with offices in the United States and Argentina. Idealist is an interactive site where people and organizations can exchange resources and ideas and search for jobs and internships around the world for primarily nonprofit organizations. 

International Herald Tribune - Search the classified section. A keyword such as “Intern” can be used. 

Inter-American Development Bank - The IDB supports economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean, and is the main source of multilateral financing in the region. The IDB hires citizens of its 48 member countries (in Caribbean, Central and South America) for positions in its Washington, D.C., headquarters and in its 28 offices in Latin America and the Caribbean, Paris, and Tokyo. Internships and full-time positions are offered. 

JobStreet.com - Job portal for opportunities in Hong Kong, Indonesia, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand.

Jobware - Multinational job search site.

Lat Pro -  Latin American professional network for Hispanic and bilingual professionals. Job postings in Canada, the United States, South America, Europe, and Asia.

Global Gateway – Monster.com -  Extensive job database with postings around the world.

OnlyMarketingJobs - Digital recruitment advertising platform for the United Kingdom marketing and communications, media, and advertising industries. Site includes marketing job database for opportunities around the world.

The Riley Guide - Links to job opportunities and resources covering multiple countries and/or regions.

United Nations Association of the United States - Posts internships opportunities in a variety of disciplines. International students are eligible to apply. Note that internships are unpaid.    

United Nations Development Program - Posts a wide range of international job opportunities. Note that internship positions are unpaid.

University of Rochester, NY – Career Center - International job search engines categorized by region/country.

The World Bank - The World Bank provides financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world. Site includes job/internship postings in developing areas around the world.

World Economic Forum - An international organization committed to improving the state of the world by engaging leaders in partnerships to shape global, regional and industry agendas. Site includes job postings in Europe, the United States, and China.
