U.S. Business Culture and Recruiting Practices

Bangladeshi Women at Ancient RuinsMany resources are available to educate McIntire students about the U.S. job search process, and international students are especially encouraged to become familiar with all aspects of recruiting practices. Take advantage of Commerce Career Services’ numerous programs and handouts on topics including networking, resume writing, cover letter writing, interviewing, and social media resources, and meet with a career counselor. 

Also, talk with employers who actively participate in McIntire School and UVA events, including the Employer-in-Residence program, career panels, and various career fairs. In the United States, networking and the use of social media such as LinkedIn are becoming increasingly important to both secure a position and to grow and develop in your chosen profession.
