Mr. Ledford co-teaches a course on private equity at the McIntire School.

Professional Activities:

Mr. Ledford is a Managing Director of The Carlyle Group, one of the world’s largest private equity banks. He is currently Head of the Industrial and Transportation group. He led the firm’s investments in Hertz, Allison Transmission; Horizon Lines; AxleTech; Piedmont Hawthorne; and Grand Vehicle Works. He is on the board of directors of Hertz; Allison Transmission; Veyance; HD Supply; and Microcredit Enterprises, a nonprofit organization specializing in microlending. He is also Executive Vice President of the McIntire Foundation Board of Trustees. Before joining Carlyle, he was Director of Leasing for MCI Telecommunications.
