Areas of Expertise:

Professor Koch has expertise in financial reporting and managerial accounting. His research focuses on the valuation of earnings news, dividend signaling, and voluntary disclosure. His research uses the analysis of archival market data. Professor Koch has taught a variety of financial and managerial accounting courses and is currently teaching an elective course in intermediate accounting.

Professional Activities:

Professor Koch has presented his work at national conferences sponsored by the American Accounting Association and at many university and conference research workshops. He has published his work in Journal of Finance and Journal of Accounting, Auditing, and Finance. Before joining the McIntire School of Commerce, Professor Koch was a faculty member at Carnegie Mellon University. He has also taught in a number of executive education programs. Before earning his Ph.D., Professor Koch worked as an auditor for Coopers and Lybrand and as a litigation consultant for Navigant Consulting.
