Dean Announces New Leadership Roles Oct. 12, 2000—Top McIntire faculty will assume key positions at two of McIntire’s research centers.· Elizabeth Thurston, effective immediately, is Director of The PricewaterhouseCoopers Center for Innovation in Professional Services. She will work with faculty, students, and corporate partners to support McIntire’s teaching and research efforts in professions such as accounting, consulting, and advertising. Bob Webb will succeed George Overstreet as Director of The McIntire Center for Financial Innovation, effective January 2001. The Center has been endowed with a $1 million gift from John Griffin (McIntire ’85). In addition to continuing current activities such as faculty support and symposia, Webb plans to initiate a summer program to prepare financial analysts who have not had the opportunity to develop their skill sets through a McIntire education. The School also recently announced two additional faculty changes: Ellen Whitener succeeds Bob Webb as Senior Associate Dean, effective January 2001. Currently Management Area Coordinator, Whitener was appointed to her new position based on her leadership skills, her appreciation of the multidimensional portfolio of faculty activities, her contributions to program innovation, and her interpersonal and communication abilities. Tom Bateman succeeds Ellen Whitener as Management Area Coordinator, effective January 2001. Bateman, who recently joined the McIntire faculty, previously served in this leadership role at the University of North Carolina with great success. |
