David Mick Elected President of the Association for Consumer Research Oct. 2, 2003—David Mick, Robert Hill Carter Professor of Marketing in the McIntire School of Commerce, has been elected President of the Association
for Consumer Research by vote of its membership. The ACR, founded in 1969,
is the largest international organization of its kind, with more than 1,700 current members. The association holds an annual conference in the
United States as well as conferences in alternating years in Europe and Asia. Mick will serve on the ACR Board of Directors as
President-Elect in 2004. Then, as President in 2005, he will guide the themes and planning of the U.S. conference, lead the
board of directors meetings, write articles for the ACR newsletter, and make a plenary address before the attendees of the annual conference scheduled that year for San Antonio, Texas.
