The American Advertising Federation recently announced that Andrew
Teie (McIntire ’08) has been chosen as a finalist for this year’s
Most Promising Minority Students Program. The AAF’s Most Promising
Minority Students Program is the premier advertising industry award
program to recognize and recruit outstanding minority college
students in advertising, marketing, media, and communications.
In addition to providing recognition, The AAF’s Most Promising
Minority Students Program connects the advertising industry with the
nation’s top minority college seniors. During Feb. 5-7, 2008, Teie
will join his fellow finalists in New York to meet with top
advertising executives, who will use the opportunity to recruit
fresh talent, to further prepare advertising’s best young prospects,
and to help the industry’s work force better reflect the
multiculturalism of today’s society.
“This selection as a finalist for the 2008 AAF Most Promising
Minority Students Program means a great deal to me,” said Teie. “I
am honored to be nominated for a program that continues the AAF
tradition of recognizing top minority advertising students. I also
look forward to having the chance to meet with some of the top
advertisers in the world in early February in New York. It is sure
to be an invaluable experience, and I thank AAF for giving me this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Professor Jack Lindgren, who nominated Teie, says that the
fourth-year student, who is concentrating in marketing and
management, is not just as excellent academically; he is also a
leader. “Andrew has made the dean’s list numerous times,” says
Lindgren, “but he is also the recipient of the Hispanic College Fund
Scholarship Award, which is based on academics, leadership, and
volunteering.”
“Andrew is a first-class student and a great person,” added McIntire
Dean Carl Zeithaml. “I am delighted that he was chosen as a finalist
for the AAF’s Most Promising Minority Student Program.”
