One
of Carl Zeithaml's early initiatives as Dean of the McIntire School
was tripling the Capital Campaign goalfrom $16 million to
$48 million. In December 2000, through the generosity of our alumni
and friends, McIntire reached this ambitious milestone.
Although
the dollar amount is significant, the achievements McIntire already
realized through the success of the campaign are truly outstanding:
| |
The
opening of the state-of-the-art Bridge Center for Financial
Markets at the University of Virginia.
|
| |
The
launching of the Integrated Core Experience, McIntire's innovative
third-year curriculum.
|
| |
The
graduation of the first classes of the executive-format Master
of Science in MIS Program and the Ernst & Young Your Master
Plan graduate accounting program.
|
| |
Leadership
in contemporary business issues through the e-summit and symposia
sponsored by the Center for Growth Enterprises, The McIntire
Center for Financial Innovation, the Center for the Management
of Information Technology, and the planned Real Estate Center
at the University of Virginia.
|
| |
The
enhancement of McIntire's outstanding faculty through research
and curriculum funding and through recruitment of many top
academics.
|
Above
and beyond achieving the campaign goal, the McIntire School developed
an ambitious and innovative agenda that captured the imagination
of alumni, friends, and corporate partners. The next exciting step
is the new building and the expansion and renovation of Monroe Hall.
"We
need to continue to be ambitious and to set high goals for the School
and ourselves," says Zeithaml. "We will soon officially begin our
most ambitious and important fundraising campaign to date, focused
on the new building and the expansion and renovation of Monroe Hall.
At the same time, we need to continue to raise unrestricted funds
and, in particular, faculty support funds. All of you can participate
in this new campaign through your involvement in center activities;
your involvement in alumni and corporate events and sponsorships;
and your continued devotion to excellence in teaching, research,
and service to our students, alumni, friends, colleagues, and profession."
