David Mick
• David Mick and
Tom Bateman have been awarded an $11,500 grant from the Marketing Science Institute to study the nature, processes, and implications of practical wisdom in marketing and management. They plan to determine how marketing and management executives define and elaborate practical wisdom; to determine whether those insights cohere, contradict, or expand on existing theories and research on wisdom; and to generate insight, evidence, and ideas on the benefits of practical wisdom to management generally and to the marketing function particularly.
“Much of the grant is for funding our travel expenses to interview leading executives,” Mick says. “Interestingly, MSI has not had a strong history of funding for
this. The fact that they have offered to pay for much of our travel expenses reveals how excited MSI officials are about this unique project to study executive wisdom.”
In addition, Mick has been named a Fellow in the Society for Consumer Psychology, which operates under the purview of the American Psychological Association. Being named a Fellow in this society is recognition of strong intellectual leadership and long-lasting influences in consumer psychological research.
