Many of the more than 30 McIntire alumnae were scribbling notes again as McIntire Lecturer Karin Bonding spoke about “Savvy Financing for Women” at a
kickoff event for the Ivy Society April 27, 2004, in Vienna, Va. Christine Kowal (McIntire ’02) told Bonding afterward, “It was wonderful to have a U.Va. professor in our neck of the woods. The real world has its perks, but nothing beats the hours I spent in Comm School classrooms with professors like you.”
Michele Martell (McIntire ’98) sponsored the Vienna alumnae event. “Michele helped us formulate our thoughts about the Ivy Society,” says Director of Annual Programs and Special Projects Katie Whittier. “She did everything for the event, which was the first of several pilot events planned to introduce the Ivy Society to McIntire alumnae. Michele also
helped sponsor the ‘Back to the Lawn’ alumni receptions Nov. 4 and
Nov. 5, 2003.”
“Response from alumnae is very enthusiastic,” Whittier adds. “Our mission with the Ivy Society is to thank McIntire’s generous alumnae donors by providing exciting, informative, and educational networking and mentoring opportunities.”
