Special Events The Office of Undergraduate Student Services plans many activities throughout the year for students, faculty, and parents. Ongoing events include: Monthly Socials An opportunity for McIntire faculty, staff, and students to gather and interact with one another in a casual setting for a themed reception. Events have included Chili & Cider Round Up, Fajita Festival, and Valentine's Day Brunch. Dining with the Dean Held four to six times per semester, students are given an open invitation to dine with Dean Carl Zeithaml to discuss and exchange McIntire issues and concerns. Fall Events Third-Year Orientation--Orientation for incoming third-year McIntire students, held before classes begin in the fall, provides information to students about various aspects of the McIntire School, including core courses, student life, and student services. Pre-Commerce Orientation--Presented to first-year University students in the fall, Pre-Commerce Orientation offers information about McIntire requirements, course offerings, and the admissions process. Family Weekend--During the University's Family Weekend, McIntire presents a program of events that offers an opportunity for families of students to learn more about the many facets of the McIntire School and to meet McIntire faculty. Spring Events Day on the Lawn--McIntire offers informational sessions to newly admitted University of Virginia students during the University's Day on the Lawn event. Leadership Celebration--This event honors McIntire students who have contributed to the McIntire community through their leadership in student organizations. Graduation--In addition to the graduation ceremony on the Lawn, McIntire holds a diploma ceremony on Brown College Hill next to Monroe Hall. Family and friends of students are invited to attend. |
