Position Information
Job Responsibilities: 

We are looking for a Marketing Manager to help scale marketing and customer growth for our student loan originations. This role will report to the Director of Consumer Marketing for our student lending business line. You will have a high degree of responsibility and visibility to drive customer acquisition for one of our broadest and fastest-growing customer segments. 

In this role, you’ll have a unique opportunity to work on a range of marketing initiatives and drive meaningful results. We are focused on connecting with students and parents looking for ways to pay for college, and then helping them determine whether CommonBond is right for them. We believe that student loans are for fulfilling your dreams, not emptying your bank account.

As part of a nimble team in a startup organization, you’ll work on many projects, including but not limited to:

  • Manage all aspects of in-house marketing campaigns, collaborating with cross-functional teams (creative, PR, email marketing, product, tech, customer care) to bring marketing campaigns to life
  • Managing day-to-day direct response marketing initiatives, including Display, Social, Retargeting, SEM, SEO, direct mail, and other channels developed
  • Owning our affiliate relationships, from initial discussions through execution and reporting, and working with them to explore new ways to drive growth via the channel.
  • Manage partnerships with paid media channels, including advertising, paid content, sponsorships, co-branded events, and more
  • Apply tactics in owned channels such as PR, email, referrals, and others to drive customer growth.
  • Analyze marketing activities to determine effectiveness, creating ongoing reporting dashboards and continually recommending optimizations to our activations in order to achieve our goals. 

You enjoy both the creative and analytical aspects of marketing, and you are adept at viewing marketing through a consumer lens. You’re also eager to work in a fast-paced startup environment and to drive significant impact on some of our most important company goals. The ideal candidate has:

  • 4+ years of marketing experience, with at least 2 in B2C; agency experience and/or experience at a fast-growing startup environment preferred
  • Experience with direct response digital channels and a drive / curiosity to develop new channels.
  • Deep consumer focus; able to evaluate marketing ideas and activations through a consumer lens and are skilled at helping others work this way
  • Strong marketing analytics/data skills including forecasting, modeling, and interpretation of results. Proficiency in Excel and Google Analytics are a must; bonus if you are familiar with Looker.
  • A strong match for our culture: empathy for and connection with our customer while being focused, hardworking, and kind.
  • Committed to getting better through testing and iteration: The ideal candidate is extremely curious, loves to learn through well executed tests, and is committed to finding better ways to achieve goals by going deeper into problems than others are willing or able to do.
  • Experience crafting and executing effective content across social media platforms in service of a brand.
  • Roll-up-your-sleeves mentality – we’re a small team and everyone gets their hands dirty to get stuff done.
  • Excellent project management skills. You are supremely organized and love keeping everything on track. You have the ability to keep numerous projects with different timelines moving forward.
