About me:
Salut, hola, hello! My name is Aimy Simbi, and yes, Aimy is pronounced the same way as Amy or Aimee. I’m a third-year concentrating in IT and Marketing, with a track in Business Analytics. I am originally from Richmond, VA, and have lived in different countries, including the Dominican Republic and Tanzania. I joined McIntire after completing my A.S. in Business Administration from John Tyler Community College.
The student organizations that I’m involved with are the Black Commerce Student Network (BCSN) and CASH (Cash, Assets, Savings, and Hope), a tax preparation service offered through Madison House. Getting involved on Grounds allowed me to meet peers who share the same interests of volunteering and community building as I do. Some of my other interests include reading, hiking, traveling, watching movies and TV series, and exploring more of Charlottesville.
What I’ve liked best about my McIntire experience is getting to work in groups for real-world problem solving. More specifically, I enjoyed working with my teammates to solve the comprehensive projects assigned to us by a corporate sponsor. Last semester, our sponsor was CarMax, and we got to come up with products/services that catered to a specific target segment. Working alongside my peers allowed me to get to know them better and develop my business acumen.
Fun fact:
I climbed Mt. Meru in Tanzania, which is still an active volcano! Thank you for reading my bio, and I hope our paths will soon cross!
