Commerce Career Day - Employer Information

Commerce Career Day (CCD) 2019 will take place Sept. 12 at the John Paul Jones Arena. As one of the first on-Grounds career fair specifically targeting all UVA students, CCD provides employers and students an advantageous branding and networking opportunity at the onset of fall recruiting. More than 1,000 UVA students attended the 2018 event and were able to network with over 100+ organizations representing multiple industries.

Commerce Career Day registration opens in April, through Handshake.

CCD registration includes:

  • Up to three (3) representatives per booth (fee for additional reps, below)
  • Breakfast and lunch during the career fair
  • Student host, if requested during registration
  • Access to electricity and wireless capability
  • Convenient, free parking

Corporate and government registration fee: $800

Nonprofit organizations and startup companies (in business fewer than three years) registration fee: $400

Additional fees for extra attendees: $75/person for up to two (2) extra representatives (More than five [5] attendees will require an additional booth space.)

If you wish to have local accommodations, please go to our hotel information page to review the map and list of a few hotels near the event location. Some hotels offer a discount for employers attending UVA events, so be sure to ask.


Please do not send literature or displays directly to the McIntire School of Commerce or to John Paul Jones Arena.

All job fair displays and boxes are to be shipped to UVA via Package Depot in Charlottesville and will be delivered to your booth before the event. Package Depot will be responsible for the return or forwarding of your parcels. Print the Package Depot form (pdf), fill it out, and fax it to 434-984-2122 to alert Package Depot's staff of your package's arrival. You may request an estimate from Package Depot before mailing anything.

From I-64
Following signs to the UVA Information Center, take Exit 118B for the Route 29/250 Bypass. Go approximately 3 miles and take the Leonard Sandridge Road exit. Keep straight through the two lighted intersections, and JPJ will be on your left. Free parking is in front of the arena.

From I-66 via US Route 29 North
Take I-66 from Northern Virginia past Manassas. Take the exit marked "Route 29 South - Gainesville." Proceed to Charlottesville, where Route 29 becomes Emmet Street (approximately 4 miles). Once past the Barracks Road Shopping Center (and at the next lighted intersection, John Paul Jones Arena on the right), take a right on to Massie Road. Free parking is in front of the arena.


Inclement Weather Policy
In case of inclement weather, please call 434-924-SNOW. If the University is operating on a regular academic/work schedule or if employees are granted a grace period to arrive, the event will be held as scheduled. Therefore, NO request for release of obligation or refund will be granted. In the rare circumstance that the University is closed (i.e. classes are canceled), the event will be canceled and every attempt will be made to reschedule.

Cancelation/Refund Policy
Requests for registration cancelation must be made in writing to the UVA Career Center Employer Relations and Events Manager. Event expenses are incurred based on the number of registrants; therefore, NO request for release of obligation or refund will be granted if received by the Career Center less than 14 days prior to the event. A full refund will be granted if the request for cancelation is received at least 30 days prior to the event and a refund of 50% will be granted if the cancelation request is received 15-29 days before the event.
