Weston Smith, former CFO of HealthSouth, presents his story as the first-ever whistleblower to warn federal investigators about financial reporting fraud. Smith had a front-row seat to HealthSouth’s meteoric rise and plummet, and was eventually sentenced to 27 months in prison for his role in a $3 billion fraud and was ordered to pay $1.5 million in forfeited assets. A frequent speaker on ethics and integrity in business, Smith describes the culture at HealthSouth that supported the fraud, the mechanics of the unethical accounting, and how detection was avoided.
