The Facebook Effect and the Power of Pull: How Social Media Is Reshaping Our World

This program focused on the deep socio-technical forces that are reshaping our world, and featured presentations by the authors of two new books. In the first presentation by veteran technology reporter David Kirkpatrick, he talked about the birth and evolution of Facebook, entrepreneurship in the 21st century, and the current and future impact of social media. The second presentation was by noted business strategist John Hagel III, who explored the shift in the information economy from “push” to “pull.” The afternoon session included several case studies on how public and private sector organizations use social media in an attempt to harness the power of pull.
