McIntire Ally Program
The McIntire School has mobilized its faculty and staff to form an identifiable Ally group that supports all students, including minority students, LGBTQ students, first-generation college students, students with disabilities, veterans, and any other students who may feel marginalized by status or life experiences. Actively advocating on behalf of students and available to them as mentors, McIntire Allies help them navigate the academic environment, address obstacles, and reduce feelings of isolation, as well as provide a safe space for them to explore problems and solutions.

"Since I started working at UVA nearly 10 years ago, I've worked closely with students who considered themselves as "other," or separate from the "typical" UVA population. No matter how you might identify, I am open to exploring what it means to feel on the outside, to be different, and to experience things with a different lens while being a member of the UVA community."
