Mr. Richardson's areas of expertise include venture capital investing, entrepreneurship, high-growth startups, developing entrepreneurial ecosystems, private equity, and alternative assets.

Mr. Richardson has been involved in early-stage ventures as a venture capitalist, angel investor, board member, and entrepreneur for more than 25 years. He spent 15 years based in Silicon Valley and Geneva as a venture capitalist with Vision Capital and Dominion Ventures. In 2007, he returned to Charlottesville, VA, to join Investure, a $15 billion consortium of university endowments and nonprofit foundations. In 2012, he co-founded PsiKick (now Everactive), a disruptive ultra-low-power semiconductor startup with two Engineering professors from UVA and Michigan. He was the CEO of PsiKick for four years before co-founding Astraea, a leading machine learning and AI platform for Earth-observing satellite imagery and geospatial data. As an entrepreneur, Mr. Richardson has raised more than $50 million of angel and venture capital funding. He is an active board director and adviser for a number of startups and nonprofits, including Intelligent Growth Solutions, Springbok Analytics and Forge. Since 2010, he has taught Entrepreneurship and Venture Capital Investing courses at the McIntire School of Commerce.
