Professor Sarker teaches a wide range of courses, including emergent technologies, IS strategy for managers, sourcing, and telecommunications and networking.

On the research front, her publications have appeared in outlets such as MIS QuarterlyInformation Systems ResearchJournal of Management Information SystemsJournal of the Association of Information SystemsDecision SciencesEuropean Journal of Information SystemsDecision Support Systems; and Information Systems Journal, among others. She also served as the principal investigator of a National Science Foundation grant awarded to study work–life balance in globally distributed software development teams. In the past, she has served as an associate editor at MIS Quarterly; Decision Sciences Journal; and Communications of the AIS and received outstanding associate editor recognition at both MIS Quarterly and Decision Sciences Journal. Since 2017, she has served as senior editor at MIS Quarterly.
