Is MBI right for me?
MBI is a valuable resource for anyone looking to gain a career enhancing education through one of three distinct certificate programs: business fundamentals, sustainability, or management.
What are the academic requirements for each certificate?
MBI's Certificate in Business Fundamentals is specifically designed for non-business majors who have successfully completed at least two years of undergraduate education, recent grads from non-business programs, and working professionals. Where applicable, candidates must be in good academic standing and have a competitive GPA to be eligible for the program.
The Certificate in Sustainable Business is designed for non-business or business majors as well as recent grads and working professionals. Where applicable, candidates must be in good academic standing and have a competitive GPA to be eligible for the program.
What type of degree will I receive?
The certificate programs at MBI are non-degree programs. Students who successfully finish the program receive a certificate from the University of Virginia McIntire School of Commerce attesting to their successful completion of the program. The grading system is measured on a pass/fail basis, and students whose participation is exceptional receive awards of outstanding achievement.
How long is each certificate program?
The Certificate in Business Fundamentals is offered in three formats:
- The Academic-Year Program follows the UVA academic year calendar, running from late August to late April, and meets Fridays from 11 a.m. to 1:45 p.m.
- The Summer Residential Program runs late May to late June, and meets daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- The Online MBI Program is an accelerated 15-week program that runs on a semester schedule, with start dates in spring, summer, and fall.
The Certificate in Sustainable Business is offered in a flexible online environment, and lasts 13 weeks.
The Executive Certificate in Management is also offered online, consisting of 10 modules over 12 months.
