Why did you choose McIntire? I chose McIntire because of the challenging academic environment and the welcoming community. The professors at McIntire are clearly passionate about both teaching and learning. I wanted to be in a school where people, both students and professors, place a high value on academics. In addition, even after my first visit to UVA, I felt a distinct sense of community. The professors, faculty, and students are incredibly welcoming and accessible. Finally, people seem genuinely happy at UVA; Charlottesville is simply a wonderful place to attend grad school.
What do you enjoy about the program so far? I have really enjoyed getting to know other students in the program, who come from all around the country and the world. All of the students are here to learn but also here to support each other--academically, professionally, and personally. McIntire fosters a competitive yet inclusive environment, which makes learning genuinely enjoyable. In addition, I have had the opportunity to take new and exciting courses. For example, I am taking cybersecurity and financial trading, which are classes I never had the chance to take in undergrad. I also love living in Charlottesville. It is so fun getting to explore everything this gem of a city has to offer: hiking, farmers markets, concerts, and amazing food.
Fun facts about me: I got married Aug. 4, 2018, just an hour away from Charlottesville, in Lexington, Va. I recently got a puppy who loves living in Charlottesville. I also love to travel, and I studied abroad in Australia for five months while in undergrad.
Hobbies: Running, hiking, skiing, enjoying all the great food Charlottesville has to offer
