Why did you choose McIntire? The tight-knit community of the students, faculty, and staff as well as interesting and challenging academic offerings got me interested initially. McIntire has strong relationships with alumni and companies that yield high employment rates. After visiting Grounds and talking to current students, it became apparent McIntire is the best choice to grow academically and professionally.
What do you enjoy so far? I most enjoy spending time getting to know people in the Program in and outside the classroom. Students come from universities from all over the country and globe. The perspectives they bring into our friendships and classes make conversations and work captivating. Many students attend sporting events, trivia nights, and concerts and explore Charlottesville together.
What has surprised you? Professors and staff know we’re juggling all sorts of expectations all at once, from homework, readings, and the job search to preparing for the CPA exam and adjusting to life in Charlottesville. They let us know about the resources available on Grounds (Commerce Career Services, classmates, office hours, etc.) to help tackle these challenges and make them easier to juggle.
Fun facts about yourself: I graduated undergrad the same time that my university president retired. We essentially graduated together. From my second to fourth years, I spent my spring breaks traveling to different U.S. cities, visiting companies and alumni.
Hobbies: Hiking, biking, running, going to farmer’s markets, and sustainability volunteering
