Why did you choose McIntire? I was initially interested because of McIntire’s reputation for its accounting program. Talking with an UVA admissions counselor when he visited UF gave me an idea of what the academic environment would be like at McIntire. Since I studied at UF in a college town, I thought that I could adjust well and also enjoy my time as a student in Charlottesville. The fact that UVA is located near D.C. also made me excited. Throughout the process, I could also really tell the warmth of the faculty. I ultimately decided that UVA was my top choice.
What do you enjoy so far? I enjoy being part of the UVA community, mainly because of its caring faculty, the high intellectual level of the students, and the diverse background of people. Charlottesville is a beautiful, peaceful small town, and I am so thankful I get to spend my time here as a graduate student. People are nice, open-minded, and willing to help.
What has surprised you? I was surprised to realize how much effort the M.S. in Accounting faculty put into the students. From the first day at orientation until now, every event and class have proved that the faculty really care about the students and their success along the way. Calling professors and other faculty by their name was also surprising to me. I think it really helps bring faculty and students together.
