Why did you choose McIntire? I was really attracted to the competitive yet inclusive culture, as well as the focus on learning as opposed to getting the grade. I think I was sold when I realized the long-term benefits of being in a program that would prepare me for a career instead of just passing the CPA exam. I also wanted to go to a grad school with a good reputation, so UVA and the McIntire School of Commerce were too hard to pass up!

What do you enjoy so far? I really appreciate how dedicated the McIntire faculty are to the student’s learning. Although I can tell many of my courses will be challenging, I am also excited that I will be able to learn so much from such knowledgeable professors. Outside of all of the great things about the M.S. in Accounting Program, I really love living in Charlottesville! I have never lived in a college town, so it has been a really fun experience living in Charlottesville and going to a big university.

What has surprised you? How well we have blended together, despite the variety of our backgrounds! With so many different perspectives and backgrounds mixed together in one room, there is so much that I have already learned from my classmates in addition to the professors.

Fun facts about yourself: I went to a World Cup game in Brazil in 2014! Someday I hope to travel to all 50 states, and so far, I am about halfway there. Finally, I have skied (and survived) a double black diamond.

Hobbies: Watching college football, basketball, and soccer; snow skiing; reading, and traveling
