M.S. in Commerce 2019, University of Virginia
B.S. in Neuroscience with a Dance Minor, University of Virginia
Hometown: Dallas, TX
Why did you choose UVA’s M.S. in Commerce Program? I was very dedicated to being pre-med all throughout my undergraduate career. I then came to the realization that I had not had the chance to explore other educational fields of interest. This prompted me to take econ courses and commerce courses. I found a new passion for this way of thinking, and it just seemed like the step that made sense for me. I took this as an opportunity to pivot from being pre-med to working in the finance industry. I hope in the future I can find a way to combine my interest in the health field and finance.
What do you enjoy about the program so far? I love the people and being around people who went to various undergraduate institutions. I have already begun to see issues from different academic and cultural backgrounds, which is enhancing my learning. I also have enjoyed how helpful the faculty have been, not only in preparing us to learn about these subject areas, but also preparing us for interviews by giving us important industry knowledge.
Fun facts about me: I love cats (I foster them through the SPCA in Charlottesville), and I'm a bartender at Crozet on the Corner.
Hobbies: Yoga, hiking, being outside, dance (I was a Dance minor in undergrad, so also hope to keep up with UVA's dance program during my time in the M.S. in Commerce Program.)
