Ray Hoving

Before retiring, Ray spent over 10 years as an independent IT management consultant. He specializes in aligning IT with business strategy, applications and infrastructure management best practices, and IT project excellence. He also provides educational services to clients in areas such as project management, IT leadership, and executive education. 

He has over 25 years of IT management experience, mostly with Air Products and Chemicals Inc., a global Fortune 250 manufacturer. His assignments included heading applications development, emerging technologies, and IT infrastructure services for the corporation. He also served as CIO for a multi-billion dollar division of the company.  

Ray is currently an Executive-on-Grounds for the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce. He was an Adjunct Professor for the M.B.A. programs of Temple and Lehigh Universities and has taught in the Wharton, MIT, Babson, UCLA, and UVA executive education programs. He is the Senior Advisory Editor for MISQ Executive, a research journal devoted to improving IT practices. 

He served as President of the Society for Information Management, the leading professional association for CIOs and other key IT leaders, with over 3,500 members worldwide. Ray is also a member of the Project Management Institute and the Association of Information Technology Professionals.
