As part of a select list of the best young marketing academics in the world, McIntire Marketing Professors Derick Davis and Irina Kozlenkova have been named 2019 Young Scholars by the Marketing Science Institute (MSI).
On the 10th anniversary of the biennial program, Davis and Kozlenkova represent the University of Virginia, among 33 other remarkable marketing scholars whom the MSI believes will lead the next generation of marketing academics. The recognized scholars are three to six years from having earned their Ph.D., are noteworthy for conducting important research on critical marketing topics, and focused on solving real-world problems in their field of study.
“It is an honor to be named to the MSI Young Scholars Class of 2019,” says Davis. “The alumni of this program include many of the thought leaders in our discipline who are pushing boundaries and helping shape the future of the field. It is inspiring to be in such distinguished company, and I will work hard to live up to this distinction and to advance knowledge in marketing.”
Kozlenkova feels equally privileged to be recognized. “I am very grateful and honored to have been selected as a 2019 MSI Young Scholar,” she says. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to meet and learn about the research of the other scholars at MSI’s four-day Young Scholar event. We all focus on different domains in the marketing discipline, and the event is a great opportunity to both network and identify opportunities to collaborate in the future.”
MSI, a nonprofit research-based organization, initially organized the inaugural Young Scholars forum in 2001. Created to bring together the varied disciplines within marketing, the 2019 edition of the conference meets Jan. 3-6, in Park City, Utah.
