McIntire Team Places Third, Wins Best Research Award in District-Level AAF Competition

Promotions class 2017

The students from Marketing Professor Carrie Heilman’s “Promotions” class recently placed third and earned the “Best Research” award at the district level of the American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). The McIntire team competed April 7, 2017, in Raleigh, N.C., against nine other schools in their district, from Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

NSAC is “the premier college advertising competition in the nation” that challenges students from more than 150 college campuses “to think critically and develop high-level integrated marketing campaigns for some of the country’s most recognizable brands,” according to the AAF.

The 2017 NSAC required AAF college chapter teams to develop a 26-page plans book and a 20-minute presentation detailing their integrated marketing campaign in response to a real-world case study, co-authored by this year’s national client, Tai Pei, and the AAF Academic Division. Each student team first competed during April at the district level. After semi-finals in May, the top eight teams will advance to the national level, where each will pitch their campaign in front of client judges to win the national title during the AAF’s national conference in June.
