Adding to a growing list of his achievements, McIntire alum Tian Zeng was recently named as one of 25 rising stars of Wall Street by financial magazine Business Insider.

Chosen from among hundreds of successful finance leaders 35 or younger, Zeng emerged as a prominent nominee from those submitted by his finance industry peers. The publication profiles a career that took him from trading distressed mortgage securities and credit default swaps at Citi to building the swaps business of Citadel Securities, before leaving for his current position as a Director and Senior Credit Trader with Deutsche Bank.

Also featured in two other Business Insider articles that run concurrently with the main piece, Zeng shares his best career advice (“Be the first one at work and the last one to leave—because you love the job.”) and a book recommendation (Liar’s Poker by Michael Lewis).

Zeng says that appearing in Business Insider is a great honor, yet he hopes to continue to accomplish more and meet additional milestones throughout his career.

Crediting the Commerce School with giving him the foundational skills the Beijing and Fairfax, VA, native has come to rely upon, Zeng notes, “McIntire certainly taught me a lot of lessons in becoming who I am today: helping me form my logical thinking from a global perspective, as well as how to problem solve in difficult circumstances. Most of all, I really learned how to deal with people socially. I became much more confident about myself throughout my years at McIntire.”
