Clark MacKenzie ’61 received the William C. Campbell Award from the United States Seniors’ Golf Association for his contributions to the association and to the advancement of amateur golf. He has played on the USSGA international team 15 times since 1998, captained the team for four years, and served as team secretary for two years. Mr. MacKenzie has also served on a number of committees for the organization, including the committee planning the celebration of the USSGA’s 100th anniversary in 2005, and has served on its board of governors in various capacities. A member of the Senior Slam Society, he has participated in each of the USSGA’s invitational tournaments. He and his wife, Andy, live in Jackson, Wyo.

Carl S. Markowitz ’67 retired after 45 years as an Attorney specializing in residential and commercial real estate. Throughout his career, he conducted more than 20,000 real estate settlements. Formerly a resident of Virginia Beach, Va., he now lives in Naples, Fla.

David A. Chandler ’79 has been promoted to Regional Corporate Banking Manager at BB&T Bank. Based at the North Loudoun Street location in Winchester, Va., Mr. Chandler has more than 36 years’ experience in the commercial lending industry.

Ronald G. Polly Jr. ’87 has been re-elected Managing Partner of national litigation firm Hawkins Parnell Thackston & Young. He will continue to lead the labor and employment group, which represents Fortune 500 companies, public entities, and senior executives.

Lori Overholt ’88 received the Virginia Business 2015 CFO of the Year Award in the small private company division. She is President and CFO of VSA Resorts, a three-property hospitality and vacation ownership company in Virginia Beach, Va.

Dick Stanton ’88 completed eight years of service on the board of directors of the Wissahickon School District in suburban Philadelphia. Mr. Stanton lives in Lower Gwynedd, Pa., with his wife, Bev, and their sons, Danny, 11, and Michael, 9.

Kristin Kisska Mehigan ’90 contributed a short story, “The Sevens,” to the mystery anthology, Murder Under the Oaks (Down and Out Books II). The book is published in conjunction with Bouchercon, the annual World Mystery Convention.

Shanti Parikh ’90 published her second book, Regulating Romance: Youth Love Letters, Moral Anxiety, and Intervention in Uganda’s Time of AIDS (Vanderbilt University Press). The book draws on 10 years of ethnographic research, 250 interviews, and more than 300 youth love letters to provide a window into young people’s heterosexual desires and practices in Uganda. Ms. Parikh is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and African and African-American Studies at Washington University in St. Louis.

Matthew O'Neill ’99 and his wife, Erica, welcomed a son, William “Liam,” born May 13, 2016. The family lives in Hong Kong, where Mr. O’Neill is CAO and CFO of Banking, Asia Pacific, at Citi.

Jeremy Ebrahim ’00 and Alexandra H. Ellen Ebrahim (A&S ’00) welcomed a son, Carter Williamson, born Sept. 10, 2015. Carter joins big brothers Jameson and Preston. The family lives in New Providence, N.J.

Anthony Holbrook ’01 and Rebecca Brocato Holbrook (Nursing ’05) welcomed twins, Patrick Miles and Emma Kate, born Jan. 13, 2015. They join big brother Ben, 7, and big sister Claire, 5. The family lives in Temecula, Calif.

Kennon Poteat ’01 has been made Partner at Williams & Connolly in Washington, D.C., where his practice focuses on complex civil and criminal litigation. He has litigated matters in federal and state courts across the country and arbitration panels here and abroad. Mr. Poteat lives in Washington, D.C., with his wife and children.

Rick Ramsey ’01 (Darden ’07) has been named President of Engineered Steel Products, a structural steel manufacturing company headquartered in Sophia, N.C. He also serves as Operating Partner of New Page Capital, a private equity firm he established with Adam Duggins (Darden ’08). Engineered Steel is the first major acquisition for New Page Capital.

Teresa Smerdzinski Sandstrom ’03 and her husband, Gus, are proud to announce the birth of their daughter, Sophia Lucille, born Jan. 26, 2016. She joins big brother William, 2.

Bryan M. Antler ’06 graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law in May 2015. He plans to start his own law firm in southern California, focusing on civil violations of mentally disabled people.

Blair Reilly Matthews ’07 and Adam Matthews (Engineering ’07) welcomed a daughter, Kathryn “Kate” Virginia, born Aug. 12, 2015. The family lives in Arlington, Va.

Sara Elizabeth Bryan Hutter ’08 (M.S. in Accounting ’09) and Lucas Conley Hopkins (Engineering ’08) were married at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lynchburg, Va., June 6, 2015. The couple lives in Greensboro, N.C., where Ms. Hopkins is an Audit Manager with KPMG and Mr. Hopkins is a Process Engineer with Olympic Products.

Christina Marie Polenta ’09 has been promoted to Managing Director at Chicago-based hedge fund JHL Capital Group.

Robert B. Guest ’10 and Alexandra Vuxton Guest (A&S ’09) welcomed a daughter, Everly Cynthia, born Aug. 22, 2015. Mr. Guest recently graduated from Harvard Law School, and the family is relocating to Virginia.

Jennifer Eaton ’11 is an Associate Attorney in the business department of Vandeventer Black in Norfolk, Va., where she advises clients regarding corporate and transactional matters. Before starting at the firm, she completed a one-year clerkship with the 4th Judicial Circuit of Virginia.

Lyndsey Lawrence Padden (A&S ’10, M.S. in Commerce ’11) and Tyler Padden (Engineering ’10) welcomed a daughter, Nora Kathryn, born Oct. 27, 2015. The family lives in Cincinnati.
