Samuel A. Derieux ’47 was recognized in the 125th anniversary issue of Journal of Accountancy as one of 125 people having had a significant impact on the accounting profession from 1887 to 2012. In May 2012, he attended the 125th anniversary meeting of the American Institute of CPAs. Mr. Derieux is a past chairman of the board of AICPA and received its Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Service in 1978. He is also a past president of the Virginia Society of CPAs.
Bob Hardaway '49 was recognized by CFA Institute with a special service award for his more than 60 years of involvement with the institute, including serving as a CFA exam grader.
Ed Roseberry ’49 was featured in a Sept. 23, 2012, Daily Progress article titled “Photographer Captures Hometown’s Many Moments.” (Link) Mr. Roseberry got his start shooting pictures for Corks & Curls in 1947 and took photographs for The Daily Progress and the University News Services. He also taught photography classes in the School of Architecture and served as an adviser to the yearbook staff, but it was his freelance work that most established him as a familiar and welcome figure to generations of UVA students.
Meredith E. Yeago ’49 and his wife, Ann, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with family and friends at Christ Lutheran Church in Staunton, Va., Sept. 16, 2012. The celebration, given in their honor by their three sons and wives, included attendance at their Sunday church service and was followed by a luncheon held in the fellowship hall. Meredith is the son of the late Jacob E. and Nellie Yeago. He is the retired Vice President and Treasurer of CFW Communications. He is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Staunton and the Shenandoah and American Rose Societies. Ann, former Ann Elizabeth Brower of Waynesboro, is the daughter of the late Ruth and David Brower. Ann sings in the choir at church and is a member of the church sewing circle. They have been active members of Christ Lutheran Church of Staunton since 1950. They were married at Grace Lutheran Church of Waynesboro by the Rev. Robert Schenk, Aug. 30, 1947. Ann and Meredith have three sons, John Yeago and his wife, Donna, of Stuarts Draft, Va., and their sons, Jacob, Marcus, and Taylor, and daughter, Adriana; Tom Yeago and his friend, Sharon, of Staunton; and Dan Yeago and his wife, Desiree, of Charlottesville, Va., and their sons, Bryan, Cory, and David.
